Our Meet the Team series with BHP Financial Planning Ltd continues with Senior Financial Planner Andrea Yellops. Andrea has worked in financial services for 30 years. She has a client portfolio of personal and business clients, with a particular interest in lifetime cashflow analysis, comprehensive financial planning and retirement. Read our interview to find out what Andrea loves most about her role and how she likes to relax outside of work.

When did you join BHP Financial Planning?

I joined the firm back in 2002.

What do you love about working in the BHP Financial Planning team?

There is a great team spirit with a wide range of experience – there’s always someone to turn to for advice or a second opinion. All in all, it’s a lovely group of people!

What inspired you to work within financial planning?

After working in the NHS for three years, I joined a large Mutual Life Assurance company for a change of direction in 1989 and loved it!

How do you like to relax outside of work?

I like to spend as much time as possible with family and friends. I really enjoy hiking – I particularly love the Lake District and visit the Peak District frequently. I also love going to theatre and attending concerts. When time allows, I enjoy travelling to as many different places as I can across the UK and overseas.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

If I were to win the lottery, I would make sure that all my family and friends feel the benefit of my good fortune and then I would ….

• Travel around the world and enjoy as many sporting and music experiences as I can
• Go glamping at Glastonbury
• Embark on as many walking adventures as possible!

Do you prefer a takeaway or meal out? What is your favourite type of cuisine?

I definitely prefer to go out for a meal with family and friends. I especially enjoy Thai and Italian Cuisine. I’m not a huge fan of takeaways unless it’s fish and chips at the seaside!
