Meet BHP Financial Planning’s Managing Director Joy Clegg. Joy has more than 30 years’ financial services experience. In 2008, she set up an independent advice arm for a small firm of accountants in the Leeds area, which later joined BHP. Joy became MD of BHP Financial Planning on 1 May 2011 and, in her day-to-day role, she focuses on client service and the delivery of understandable financial planning to help clients achieve their goals.
The way we all pull together to help and support each other, even though we are spread across different offices. It is also great to work closely with our own tax team to ensure we can deliver proper joined up financial planning.
I worked for a bank and, back in 1988 when all the rules changed, I jumped at the chance to do something new and different to traditional banking.
I wish I could say, but being MD means you have to be a jack of all trades!
I play netball, walk our dog, have lots of weekends away and enjoy watching my two sons play rugby and cricket.
My ultimate favourite film is the Shawshank Redemption, however I also love Notting Hill, Love Actually and About a Boy. I usually fall asleep during a film, but not with these four!
Keep enough to live on (I have done my own cash flow plan!) – and give the rest to family and friends so I can see them all enjoy it. You don’t need millions, just enough to do nice things.
I like both and I like to cook. Italian would be my fave, closely followed by Indian.
I always wanted to be a PE teacher. Now, when I retire, I would like to work within schools in some sort of child support role.
